Grow and Show Competition 2010
I am delighted to once again run this special event this summer.
As always I have received immense support from Fujio Oomo and Makoto Tanaka in supplying quite superb Tategoi Tosai - 5 Sanke and 3 Showa this year. These koi will be grown on by the breeders in their very own mud pond from the end of April until October when they will be harvested. Entry cost is £695 which includes the growing costs in Japan for the summer and the freight cost back to the UK in the autumn. There are just 8 of these very special koi available and once registered you will be given an entry number (drawn at random) which corresponds to one of these pre-numbered koi. Please state whether you have a preference for Sanke or Showa. You will receive a laminated certificate now which shows the variety, parent stock, birth date and breeder.
In October, together with Fujio Oomo and Makoto Tanaka, we will judge how each tategoi has improved looking at growth, pattern development and body shape which means all the koi have an equal chance to win. The owner of the tategoi voted most worthy will receive a Kaneko Tategoi Shiro Utsuri which will have been grown on in the same mud pond through the summer. All the koi were deliberately selected as having the same grade and potential.
What a great opportunity to own a true tategoi being grown on for the summer and come the Autumn harvest you will be in possession of a high grade 2 year old for the price of a tategoi tosai making it a fraction of its true value in October!
